Why slow media is gaining in pace

Slow media is ironically.... gaining in pace. Searches for Snail Mail gifts are up 110% on Pinterest.

It’s a great outlet for artists and creatives, and shows in a world of more, faster, now, immediate, impatient, actually it’s what people want more of.

Likewise (and a bit of fun) the Roost Social App lets you send a message to a friend by your bird of choice, and it will arrive in real time based on the distance.

Create silly nonsensical threads… ultimately but the fun back into sending messages that aren’t just admin based, wanting to catch up but never making it out of the group chat…

We predict we’ll see more silliness as an antithesis to the overly optimised culture we’re seeing more and more.

Consumers want it. So lean into it.

Typos are a sign of a human touch - from candidates adding them to prove cover letters aren’t AI, to dating profiles - not so slopppy after lal.. (see what we did there?)

All this to say, it’s about proving there’s a human behind the work.

There will always be businesses and brands that can do with optimisation to the nth degree - mobile games spring to mind - but those come and go in a flash.

If you’re wanting to build a brand that lasts, bring some tactile, human characteristics in. You’ll see the rewards for it.
