Frequently asked questions.
What exactly is a "fractional" marketer — and why is that better than hiring someone full-time?
Simply put - when you’re growing fast, you need someone to guide you through that growth with experience. Full time hires can be expensive and often, you outgrow the need or experience maybe sometimes just as they’re bedding in. It’s not to say you can’t hire both, but fractionals can help you work out actually what the ideal operating model is without suddenly having a full time team, with multiple full time packages to account for.
How is this different from a traditional marketing agency?
Because you get who you get. No senior teams at pitch and handed off to juniors, no overheads baking in a shiny office. And fewer layers of people. Your fee goes towards the people you get to work on your business. Not ‘everything else’.
Will I get one dedicated person, or a different person each time?
You will get a dedicated person. Not a melee of freelancers to manage yourself. We curate the execution team, but pair them with a single point of contact from the outset.
Who is my day-to-day point of contact?
Either your project manager, or lead fractional marketing director setting the strategy. But they’ll be the same, throughout the process.
How quickly can you get started?
Discovery is non negotiable, but we can get started in days rather than weeks. We know that often you need to move fast, so we’ll move fast, too.
How do you vet the people in your collective?
We have an vetting process that gives us a steer if the folks we bring onboard fit with our values, and assess for the sorts of values they will pair well with in clients. We keep our selection criteria tight and discerning, to make sure that we have the right size of community, that understand that working for us means excellence, only.
What happens if someone isn't the right fit for us?
Always tell us - we generally can sense if it’s not the right fit, and will move fast to ensure we don’t drop anything while we hand off internally, on the very rare occasion this might happen.
How do you ensure consistency when multiple people are working on our account?
A single point of contact and ownership, and our highly discerning internal review processes. We need to make sure that everyone is onboarded, briefed and expectations are set from day one of our engagement.
Have you worked in our industry before?
That old question - with coverage and so many brilliant folks in our pool, we will pair industry experience with subject matter expertise, to ensure that we’ll bring both the shorthand language you might use alongside the expertise needed to think out of the box and push things forward when appropriate.
How does pricing work — is it retainer, project-based, or day rate?
Retainers or project based usually. We right-size the fees based on the team size, key milestones and amount of work needed to deliver brilliance to you.
What's the minimum commitment?
There’s no blanket minimum, but when we look at SEO and performance channels we will recommend minimum terms to give us a chance to see some results.
Can we scale up or down as our needs change?
Absolutely - and is the benefit of a model like ours. We’ve had teams proactively tell the client they aren’t needed any more. Honesty, always!
What does onboarding look like — how long before you're up to speed on our business?
As much information and context you can give us, the better chances of moving fast. But we like to move fast!
